Rio Tinto has debuted an AUD 6 million ($3.8 million) ring, the first piece of jewelry from its Argyle Pink Diamonds brand.

The ring, named the Argyle Romantica, contains 3.42 carats of pink, red and blue diamonds from the miner’s Argyle deposit in Western Australia, which closed in November 2020, Rio Tinto said [the week of October 10].

The jewel was created by Singapore-based jeweler John Glajz, one of Rio Tinto’s two partners in the brand. The miner is collaborating with both designers to create one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces, as well as limited-edition collections using the remaining supply of polished colored diamonds from Argyle, it noted.

I am delighted with this latest creative collaboration that captures the mesmerizing beauty and potency of color of Argyle Pink Diamonds,” said Sinead Kaufman, chief executive of Rio Tinto’s minerals division. “We look forward to continuing to work with our downstream strategic partners to create new masterpieces.”
