Asscher-cut diamonds have soared in popularity since Pippa Middleton received an engagement ring with the fancy shape, according to 77 Diamonds.
Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge’s younger sister, got engaged to hedge fund manager James Matthews over the weekend. Matthews proposed with a diamond thought to weigh about 4 carats.

We’ve seen an increase in online sales enquiries of Asscher cut diamonds of 36 percent,” said David Allen, creative director of 77 Diamonds. “Within 24 hours of Pippa’s engagement we had eight meetings booked into our Mayfair showroom with customers requesting to see Asscher cut diamonds for their engagement ring.”

Middleton’s ring was inspired by the art deco style of the 1920s and 30s. The style has been in resurgence since the 2013 film The Great Gatsby, for which Tiffany created a jewelry collection, Allen added.
