Ode to Cartier

Marianne Riou

There are some exhibitions that should not be missed, and this is definitely one of them! From December 4, 2013 to February 16, 2014, Cartier is exhibiting at the Grand Palais. Through “Cartier: Style and History”, you will discover treasures stemming from the workshops of one of the most illustrious French high-end jewelry houses.

Seeing an exhibition at the heart of the Grand Palais is already a delight in itself. But if this exhibition is celebrating Cartier and has found a worthy showcase in the Salon d’Honneur, what more could we ask for? No retrospective of this scale had been dedicated to Cartier in the capital of luxury since… 1989!

The exhibition, organized by the Réunion des musées nationaux and made possible under the patronage of the company Vranken-Pommery Monopole, offers to go back over the history of the illustrious “kings’ jeweler”, founded in 1847, and in particular its contribution to the decorative arts.

600 pieces from the Cartier Collection as well as from private collections, along with 300 archive documents, reveal exceptional creativity and expertise, between classicism, innovation and lavishness.
