Lucapa Diamond Co. has recovered a 404.2 ct. diamond at its Lulo mine in Angola.

The diamond (pictured, right) is a type IIa, D-color gem. It is the fourth diamond of more than 100 cts. discovered by the company.

Lucapa reports that the stone is the biggest diamond ever found in Angola, the biggest discovered by an Australian company, and the 27th biggest recorded diamond in the world.

A 133.4 ct. diamond was recovered from the Lulo mine in January; until now, it was the largest stone ever recovered from the mine, breaking the record of a 131.4 ct. diamond found in 2012.
