In a press release dated January 21, 2014, Petra Diamonds announced that it had recovered an exceptional 29.6-carat blue diamond from its Cullinan mine in South Africa.

This Vivid blue rough diamond is considered to be extremely rare, be it in terms of hue, clarity or saturation. The stone was valued at several million dollars.

In May 2013, Petra Diamonds had already auctioned a 25.50-carat blue diamond discovered in Cullinan in April. It was sold for $16.910 million. Please note: blue diamonds are among the rarest diamonds and the Cullinan mine is one of the most important sources in the world. Blue diamonds are also known to be the most coveted fancy color diamonds… Until the auction sale of this rare diamond, its price is open to speculation!
