“True impact is measured by the mark we leave on the lives of others.”
These words from Rubel & Ménasché CEO Stephan Wolzok place people at the heart of everything, underscoring the significance of the Maison’s initiatives detailed in its latest Impact Report. It is a statement that embodies the commitment and spirit behind every social, environmental and technological decision taken to make Rubel & Ménasché a responsible company, dedicated to leaving a collective, lasting and, above all, human impact.
Four enduring pillars support the Maison’s initiatives
- Sourcing responsibly
- Acting for the climate
- Setting a social example
- Preserving expertise
Three areas of progress identified in 2024:
- Strengthening the value chain – traceability, compliance, transparency.
- Accelerating climate and circularity initiatives – enhanced carbon footprint methodology, emission reductions, circular economy
- Advancing together with employees, partners and clients – shared values, collective engagement, sustainable support
A long-term vision grounded in rigor and transparency
Acting for the climate was the key focus of 2024. This was a strategic, collective, demanding and ambitious choice, combining transformation, rigor, investment and innovation. Rubel & Ménasché revised its Carbon Footprint® methodology and introduced a new indicator measuring emission factors per carat purchased, enabling a more accurate reflection of market volatility and reality. Since pragmatism is central to a truly transparent approach, the 2023 carbon footprint was recalculated and now serves as a reference. The emission reduction trajectory remains ambitious: a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030, and a 90% reduction across the entire value chain by 2040, targets validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).
Sustainable daily operations
Rubel & Ménasché recently expanded its Rue de la Paix offices while respecting energy sobriety criteria. 100% of electricity consumed is now certified renewable. In terms of logistics, the Maison aims to reduce the frequency of shipments, and therefore their carbon footprint, by increasing the size of each dispatch.
A lean and circular supply chain
Aware of the challenges around offsetting, the Maison has chosen to support 5 low-carbon certified agricultural projects in France. These offset 10% of Rubel & Ménasché’s annual emissions and bring tangible benefits to soils, biodiversity, water and sustainable farming practices. In terms of circularity, the Maison has saved 18 kg of plastic waste and recycled 2,200 packaging boxes, contributing to Scope 3 reduction and ongoing environmental impact improvement.
These actions reflect Rubel & Ménasché’s long-standing commitment, reinforced through standards, governance, transparency and excellence. 2024 saw strong momentum with the Maison introducing new methodologies, considering its direct and indirect impact (Scope 1, 2, 3), taking concrete actions, launching strategic partnerships and including all stakeholders.
A shared internal culture
The climate commitment is embraced by all employees, who have participated in the Climate Fresco for three years. Beyond the Maison, progress is driven by external collaborators and long-standing partners (particularly gemstone cutters), as well as associations, ESATs (work-supporting establishments for people with disabilities) and clients. Each one plays an active role in improving processes established by the Maison, demonstrating that transformation is not achieved in isolation but as a collective, shared effort.
Enhanced traceability
In its Impact Report, Rubel & Ménasché highlights its efforts to advance diamond traceability. Origin verification protocols are consolidated through rigorously documented and audited supply chains, along with technological advances enabling stones to be tracked from extraction. This increased transparency ensures the ethical and environmental integrity of diamonds while giving clients unprecedented visibility into the Maison’s commitments. 100% of pavé diamonds come from the Maison’s manufacturing partners and are certified as responsibly sourced (non-CAHRA). In 2024, Rubel & Ménasché conducted four independent traceability audits with its partners in India. The Maison also runs pilot programs with partners to implement blockchain-based traceability, marking a major advancement, particularly for tiny stones.
Rubel & Ménasché’s initiatives have aligned with a long-term vision from the very beginning: to make diamonds and jewelry a model of responsible luxury. 2024 marked a turning point, with the ‘Acting for the climate’ pillar embodying the Maison’s desire to ‘raise standards from day one’. Through methodological advances, concrete actions, responsible investments and collective mobilization, the Maison is now more than ever reaffirming its commitment to leaving a positive, lasting and shared impact. “Climate action, social responsibility and preserving expertise require more than vigilance; they demand collective, constant, and meaningful action that comes from the heart,” said Stephan Wolzok.
