“Join me for dinner with Dalí.” A sparkle in his eye, Salvador and Gala Dalí’s recipes in his hand, Adam Neeley leads us through the fantastical garden where, in a particularly vivid dream, he found himself a guest at a decadent dinner party hosted by the couple. On waking, he brought his imaginings to life in the technicolor titanium jewels of the Dalí’s Garden collection. Earrings, necklaces and pendants swirl and twirl, suggesting the organic shapes of the blossoms, stems, pods and petals that grow in this enchanted place. The multi-awarded Californian jeweler, whose South Sea Glow necklace is part of the Smithsonian National Gem Collection, was revealed to French audiences by the Parisian art jewelry gallery Second Petale. He opens the gate into the spring season’s high jewelry gardens.

SECRET GARDENS

Tiffany & Co.’s Hidden Garden collection is a poetic expression of the natural world. Birds, bees and butterflies are animated by the spirit of Jean Schlumberger, whose nature-inspired designs defined one of the house’s grand epochs. The eleven stories that compose the collection are told through graceful movement and a stunning array of gemstones such as a flawless ten-carat diamond, Fancy Vivid Yellow diamonds, padparadscha sapphires, denim-blue sapphires, rubies, incandescent fire opals and kunzites—Tiffany’s legacy stones. Opulent gems take pride of place in Bvlgari’s garden. Part of the Eclettica collection, the Secret Garden necklace dazzles with an extremely rare, 26.65-carat padparadscha sapphire whose pink-orange hues capture the sun’s glow as it sets over Rome. “It was love at first sight… Its pink and orange harmony is simply extraordinary.” said Lucia Silvestri, creative director for Bulgari jewelry.

FOR ALL THE SENSES

Chaumet infuses its A Journey Through Nature collection with the spicy sweetness, warmth or fresh green aromas of coffee, tea, mint, verbena and vanilla—a rarely explored inspiration. The Vanilla Flower tiara, crafted over 1,350 hours, exudes the spice’s creamy scent. Flowers also feature at Yoko London, where they blossom as petals adorned with diamonds and a gradient of pink sapphires on a pearl necklace. The house’s favorite freshwater pearls blend their silken orient with the more intense luster of South Sea pearls. Nature also lends its colors to some of Repossi’s most beautiful creations this spring. The jeweler, which will soon be celebrating its 70th anniversary, looks to the glowing skies and warmth of the Mediterranean for its Blast collection. Stones in sunny hues or marine blues illuminate the studied restraint of spiraling gold threads, in a union of purity and light.

There is color in abundance at Louis Vuitton High Jewelry and the house’s Mythica collection, whether the 37 colored diamonds (a record number) of the Victory necklace, intense blue zircons including a (very rare) 82.14-carat specimen, or the 249.27 carats of tourmalines, tanzanites and aquamarines that form a sumptuous spectrum of blues on the Sirius necklace. Once again, Louis Vuitton High Jewelry dazzles with a palette of breathtaking gems at a rarely seen scale.

In Le Chœur des Pierres, Cartier commands remarkable gemstones with masterful skill. At the heart of a choral symphony that required 85,000 hours of workmanship, extraordinary stones captivate the gaze. They are the jeweler’s muses, from cascades of imperial topazes to dense, luminous emerald beads. On the Panthère Kentia necklace, a panther reclines atop a 50.13-carat cabochon Ceylon sapphire.

In the Signes & Symboles collection, the chromatic intensity of precious stones, associated for the first time with hard stones, reinforces the house’s visual vocabulary. The lion parades as the central figure in this astonishing, joyful collection. Another couturier-joaillier, Dior Joaillerie opens cabinets of curiosities that overflow with colorful gems in unexpected combinations, punctuated with lacquer. EARTH’S MIRACLES

The collection’s multiple emeralds are among the prodigious phenomena that appear from Earth’s depths to astound us with their beauty.

“Miracles are often discreet. They emerge from a detail, a ray of light, an unexpected emotion. This collection is an invitation to see them in a different way,” declared Caroline Scheufele, Chopard co-president and artistic director.

Chopard chose Cannes—the house is partner to the Cannes Film Festival—for the unveiling of its Miracles Red Carpet collection. There are the everyday miracles that illuminate a moment in the day, and there are the miracles that emerge from the High Jewelry workshops in Geneva, where the stone-cutter draws out the fire of a stone and the artisan transforms matter.
